Savvy holidaymakers claim they have come up with a new way to sneak extra luggage with them without needing to pay for baggage fees. Numerous TikTokers have shared the nifty hack, and all you need is a fishing vest.
One flyer, who goes by the username Cheapholidayexpert , shared a video of herself stuffing various personal items into several pockets of a fishing vest she says she purchased off Amazon for £10.99. She managed to squeeze in not only her bikini, some gym clothes and a music speaker, but also a deodorant, her passport, some playing cards, Airpods and her purse.
She then turns around to show off the 'best pocket of them all', which is a large zip-up section across her back - which she proceeds to slip her Apple laptop into. She then tells viewers: "I'm actually so sure that this is going to work that I'm not even going to hide this under my jacket. I'm going to wear it over the top of my jacket because it's pockets, and you're allowed pockets, right?"
She goes on to film herself successfully passing through the airport to her boarding gate with the jam-packed vest. "It worked, that is definitely another win for not paying for any luggage," she tells her 101k followers.
A whole host of fishing vests are currently available to buy on Amazon, with some starting at prices as low as £2.81. Others are on sale for £3.15 up to £25, each with various sizes and number of pockets.
In the caption, the clever traveller wrote: "After stuffing my pants in a neck pillow and using a duty free bag, it was only time before I reached the heady heights of leisurewear." The video has now been watched more than 1.8 million times, with thousands of comments from wowed viewers.
Cleetus replied: "This and cargo pants?? life changing." LB added: "This is an amazing hack." Rhiannon admitted: "I spent so long looking for a travel jacket with tonnes of pockets I don’t know why I never thought of this!"
Toby asked: "What about going through security?" and the TikToker told him: "You always take your jacket off at security! And they’re not checking allowance, just liquids and illegal items."
Fellow TikTok user Oneanswer4u also revealed: "There's actually a company out there that already makes that specifically for travel. It has pockets all over the vest, and they also make puffer coats."
Various other travellers have also documented their attempts of flying abroad with their own fishing vest - with many doing so sucessfully. One user Witch.crafty described the vest as "the best travel hack I have ever found," filling hers up with extra clothes and socks.
