One of the UK's biggest online travel agents is anticipating the busiest booking weekend in years with holidaymakers rushing to book a much-needed getaway.
Holiday expert On the Beach is predicting the biggest wave of holiday bookings the travel industry has seen in the last two years.
It anticipates a surge in bookings will follow January payday, teamed with the announcement of scrapped return Covid testing requirements for fully-vaccinated passengers.
The brand has already reported an increase in holiday sales of 150 per cent week-on-week since the start of the year, after the removal of PCR testing requirements and the relaxing of Plan B restrictions.
Zoe Harris, chief customer officer at On the Beach, said: “We’re beyond excited to be getting Britons back on their holidays this year and look forward to what we expect will be our biggest trading surge in two years, this payday weekend.
"The scrapping of test requirements will also give people the peace of mind they need to book with confidence, and that extra nudge to escape the cold and grey at home in favour of a sun lounger with their name on it. The On the Beach experience for 2022 is even bigger and better than ever before.”
On The Beach has already announced offers including free Airport Fast Track through security with all package holidays as well as free Airport Lounge access with all 4 and 5* bookings. Bookings can also be made with deposits as low as £30per person.
Most popular holiday destinations already booked in January for 2022 include:
- Tenerife
- Majorca
- Lanzarote
- Antalya (Turkey)
- Costa Blanca
- Fuerteventura
- Rhodes
- Crete
- Gran Canaria
- Dalaman (Turkey)
