Hogwarts Legacy: How to open eyeball chests

There are many secrets to find as you explore the world of Hogwarts, and there are various types of chests that you can open. Most of these chests allow you to open them as soon as you find them, the eyeball chests are a little bit different.

There are a number of these around the map, and they each contain 500 gold. This is one of the fastest ways to earn money in Hogwarts Legacy, and while they are difficult to open it’s worth figuring out. Here is everything you need to know about Hogwarts Legacy eyeball chests and how to open them.

Hogwarts Legacy: Methods to open eyeball chests

When you normally approach eyeball chests in Hogwarts Legacy, they will spot you and slam shut. Once they are shut, there is no way to open them no matter what spell you cast. You can reset the chest by leaving the area and coming back, but it will shut again if you try to approach in the same way.

If you look closely at the eyeball chests you will notice a symbol of an eye with a line through it. This is the symbol for the disillusionment charm. This is the earliest method you have of granting invisibility and the first method you have to open these chests.

You learn the disillusionment charm as you progress through the main story. If you don’t have it yet, then you need to work on your main story missions. You need to cast this spell before you approach the chest. This time it shouldn’t slam shut when you approach.

The other method is by brewing an invisibility potion. The effects of this last longer than the disillusionment charm, and might be the better choice. You can get the recipe for this from the potions shop in Hogsmeade, and you can brew one in the Room of Requirement.

Here are the ingredients you need to make one.

  • 1 Leaping Toadstool Cap
  • 1 Knotgrass Sprig
  • 1 Troll Bogey
