Hogwarts Legacy has gotten a new 4K launch trailer ahead of its release next week. The hotly anticipated video game – set in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter – is just days away from release on consoles and PC, and gamers have been gifted one final glimpse at what it has in store.
Developed by Avalanche Software and published by Warner Bros. under the Portkey Games label, the open-world role-playing-game will put players in the shoes of a new fifth year student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in the 1800s. Plot details are vague at this point, only revealing that the new student “holds the key to an ancient secret that threatens to tear the wizarding world apart,” according to the official synopsis.
The game features a host of new characters – including one or two familiar ones – voiced by Hollywood stars and actors from the Potter franchise. It looks set to be one of the year’s biggest releases, despite calls for a boycott over Harry Potter author JK Rowling’s controversial comments regarding the transgender community.

The new trailer expands on what has previously been revealed, offering more than two minutes of gameplay footage and teasing its many set-pieces and storyline. It begins with the player attending several classes at Hogwarts along with the many classmates and teachers that you will interact with throughout the game.
Hogwarts Legacy’s spellbinding graphics are on full display in the clip, as players explore various locations from the Wizarding World – including Hogsmeade and the Forbidden Forest – as well as the depths of the school. Elsewhere in the trailer, fans are given glimpses of the game’s combat mechanics and boss fights, as players come face to face with a host of new enemies.

An array of friendly and not so friendly creatures are scattered throughout the clip, including House-elves, Hippogriffs, dragons, and trolls. Hogwarts’ stone guardians also look set for an appearance.
Some details regarding the game’s playtime have already leaked online via the Hogwarts Legacy official artbook, so gamers may want to avoid spoilers ahead of its launch next week.
