A unique Indigenous jumper designed by their "little sass queen" will inspire Brisbane players when their AFLW campaign kicks up a gear in the round-three grudge match with rivals Gold Coast.
Dominant in their opening two games, the Lions are preparing for a physical battle in Saturday's Q-Clash.
But they will be brimming with confidence when they run onto the Gabba behind exciting small forward Courtney Hodder to kick off Indigenous Round.
"It's a really important round and to be able to wear a jersey that Courtney, one of our own players, has designed is pretty special," Lions captain Bre Koenen told AAP.
"We get to learn about their history and their culture and share that with everyone else."
Hodder's design celebrates the Lions' new headquarters at Springfield, the club's journey to get there and the new opportunities it presents.
The foundations of the club are represented in the tree on the front of the jumper, while the families, members and fans that support the Lions are represented in the hands along the sides.
Hodder's design also features her totem, the turtle, as well as the totems of teammates Ally Anderson and Dakota Davidson along the bottom of the guernsey.
"Literally every mark on that jumper has some meaning behind it," Koenen said.
"She's put so much time and effort into that and it's turned out amazing, so it will be a special one to wear for her."
Hodder has kicked 3.1 from 23 disposals over the opening two rounds but her pressure around goal is even more vital to the Lions' premiership bid this season.
Only Emily Bates (13) and Cathy Svarc (12) have laid more tackles for Brisbane than Hodder (10) so far this season.
"Over the last couple of years she's really come out of her shell and we love having Courtney around the group," Koenen said.
"She's a little sass queen; she brings a lot of energy and excitement to our group and we love having her.
"She's a pressure queen on the field, so she's awesome to have."
Brisbane are looking to make it three wins from three this season when they tackle Gold Coast, who got off the mark when they thrashed West Coast in round two..
"It's always a tough contest and they bring a lot of pressure and surge-type football," Koenen said.
"They're always tough to play against and it's always a little bit fiery. I don't think this year will be any different."
