BHUBANESWAR: When Dayaan will push the ball to Mustapha in the heat of Friday's World Cup opener against Argentina in the Kalinga Stadium, it could well be a leaf from the innumerable knockabouts in the backyard of the Cassiem household in South Africa.

Dayaan, captain of the South African team here, is the older sibling to Mustapha, a promising youngster excited to play his first World Cup. While Dayaan is a midfielder, younger brother Mustapha is one of the vital cogs of the forward line and he was also nominated for the FIH Rising Star of the Year award in 2020-21.
