The living conditions of a hoarder who had filled their house with so much rubbish they couldn't use their heating were discovered when they were hospitalised, and couldn't be sent home until the house was cleaned up. Local authorities stepped in and say restoring the property took two years.
They say the resident hjad been keeping people out of the home because of embarrassment and it had fallen into a state of disrepair. The councikl says it needed to be decluttered, cleaned and have vital works carried out to make it liveable.
An officer from Eat Devon Distric Council’s environmental health’s private sector housing team spent two years building a rel;ationshiop[ with the resident, including multiple visits to the home and working with a social worker, district nurse and occupational therapist, reports DevonLive.
