A Nottinghamshire prison has confirmed the death of a third inmate within the space of three weeks. HMP Lowdham Grange said another prisoner had died on Saturday, March 25.
"Next of kin have been informed and our thoughts are with the family," said a spokesperson. "As with all deaths in custody, there will be an investigation by the independent Prisons and Probation Ombudsman and therefore we are unable to comment further at this stage.”
The death happened less than two weeks after David Richards, the ex-boss of male striptease group Dreamboys, was found dead in his cell. A week before that, another man died at the prison, which changed hands from Serco to Sodexo last month.
HMP Lowdham Grange holds nearly 900 male prisoners and has around 500 staff. Sodexo took on a 10-year contract from the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) from February 16, making it the French company's sixth prison across England and Scotland.
