Hit gaming bar in the Northern Quarter is expanding into huge venue next door

The Northern Quarter’s hit gaming bar NQ64 is moving. But never fear, it’s not moving far - it’s simply moving next door, into what was formerly the late-night spot Dive Bar on Tib Street.

The new venue is a substantial move for the small set-up, and will allow those heading to the bar for gaming, drinks and snacks to spread out a little. The unit that was Dive Bar seated 350, with a huge terrace at the front too.

There are booths and banquette seating inside, and a host of new retro arcade games will be brought in, according to owners, to sit alongside current favourites including Guitar Hero, Pac Man, Street Fighter and Time Crisis.

Meanwhile, the terrace will even feature some new arcade units as well as ‘pop-a-shot’ basketball games, while inside there will also be a ‘Wall Boy’ - where you’ll be able to play Nintendo GameBoy games on a big screen.

The bar will be expanding its drinks selection, with more gaming themed cocktails like the Power Star Martini - a twist on a passionfruit martini, the Sonic-vibed Dr Ro Bev Nik (a cherry Old Fashioned) and the Kong Island Iced Tea, inspired by Donkey Kong.

Meanwhile, it also offers craft beers, wines, spirits, sodas and no booze cocktails, alongside old-school snacks like Space Raiders and Monster Munch.

Matt Robson, director at NQ64, which also has a branch on Peter Street, said: “The public have spoken, and we have listened. No more 1-star Google reviews telling us it looks bigger on the photos, because this one is actually massive.

“We saw the site come up and it was a no-brainer to move in, not too much of a trek from the original, with loads more room for games, and a mega terrace too.

“We love to show we really do listen to our customers, and have chosen a venue that holds more games, more people and more fun, whilst not being too hard for our guests to find (we hope). We can’t wait to open our doors and show everyone what we’ve done with the place.”

NQ64 opens in its new venue on August 1.
