An investigation has been launched after a suspected hit and run that resulted in a cyclist’s death.
Police received a report of a collision involving a car and a bicycle on Hylton Road in Sunderland just after 1.20am on Sunday. Emergency services attended the scene but sadly the cyclist – a man in his 40s – was unfortunately confirmed to be deceased at the scene.
His next of kin have been notified and are being offered support by specialist family liaison officers.
