Historic Scottish country pub near Glasgow reopens after being bought by local family

An historic country pub outside Glasgow will welcome in customers for the first time in over two years today after it was given a new lease of life by a local family.

Having been closed in March 2020 due to the covid pandemic, The Fintry Inn in Fintry, Stirlingshire, failed to reopen and was put on the market.

But, Chris Haslam, a born and bred Fintry local, and his partner Leigh intervened to 'create a family-run, independent pub that will once again be a top-class destination'.

The Fintry Inn has served the people of Fintry Village in Stirlingshire for over 250 years. Now locals and visitors will to enjoy the new-look pub, which is home to a new micro-brewery, Mosaik Brewing - set to 'deliver a unique customer experience, including handcrafted beer brewed and casked on site'.

Meanwhile, the pub will feature a new off-sales shop offering specialist whisky, wine and gin, called The Uncharted Shop.

Chris Haslam, Brewery Director and Pub Manager, commented: “We’re passionate about our customers having a great experience and discovering quality craft beers and spirits.

“I was born and raised in Fintry and even lived in Culcreuch Castle whilst my family managed operations at the castle from 1984 to 2007. Being part of the community again and creating somewhere exciting for locals to visit is very exciting.

“We cannot wait to welcome customers through our doors.”

Customers are urged to follow Mosaik at The Fintry Inn on social media for updates on the launch of their food menu - featuring local and seasonal produce - and live music events, as well as brewery tours and beer and spirits tasting evenings.

The old pub opens today, Friday June 3, at noon.

The Fintry Inn is located on 23 Main St, Fintry, G63 0XA. You can give them a follow on Facebook here or on Instagram here.
