Historic Queensferry pub with stunning views of the Forth bridges set to reopen

A historic Queensferry pub with stunning views of the Forth bridges is set to reopen after a huge month-long revamp.

The Hawes Inn is currently undergoing a major renovation which will give the popular South Queensferry pub a whole new look and a refreshing new feel.

Changes include the addition of a stylish private dining area, a beautiful new garden and elegantly styled interiors. Along with a striking original new look, the relaunched family pub has also introduced an all-new food menu.

The pub, located on Newhalls Road, is due to officially reopen its doors to guests on Friday June, 10 with work having commenced just a month earlier on May 8.

An extensive renovation will transform both the interior and exterior of the country pub. The new look will pay homage to the traditional roots and picturesque location while also offering a bright, contemporary take on a classic country pub.

Overlooking the stunning Forth Bridges Viewpoint and situated just 10 miles outside of the city centre, The Hawes Inn is popular among locals and visitors to the area.

The country pub has a colourful history and many ties to a number of literary greats, including strong connections with the celebrated author Robert Louis Stevenson, who was born in Edinburgh and wrote the famous novella, 'Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde'.

It is said that Robert stayed in the Inn and wrote part of the famous novel ‘Kidnapped’ in one of the rooms, featuring a passage about The Hawes Inn.

In addition to lunch and dinner, the pub will now offer a brunch menu which boasts a selection of popular dishes from 9am until midday Monday to Saturday and 11.30am on Sundays.

The new dinner menu will offer a number of delicious, freshly cooked dishes including chargrilled skewers, stonebaked pizzas, steaks and roasts. Alongside the delicious food offering, guests can also sample the extensive selection of wines, gins, craft beers and cocktails.

Following a significant investment, 15 new full and part time jobs have been created for the local area and the South Queensferry pub is currently seeking to recruit talented new team members for both front and back of house roles.

Gillian Newman, general manager at The Hawes Inn, said: “We’re working hard to create a truly unique and stimulating experience for our guests and are so excited to unveil the new Hawes Inn to the local area.

“The changes that are currently underway are all centred around creating an original country pub with a real difference."

"The new Hawes Inn will provide both our regulars and first-time guests with an exciting location to enjoy high-quality dining in beautiful surroundings.

“Both myself and the whole team are incredibly excited to open the doors and welcome guests to experience the new Hawes Inn for themselves, we hope that they love the transformation.”

Guests can be the first to experience the all-new Hawes Inn by attending rehearsal lunch and dinner events on Tuesday June 7.

This will provide locals with the unique opportunity to explore the new menu prior to the official opening and receive a 50% food discount.
