'Historic' - Manchester United fans make Cristiano Ronaldo point after Alejandro Garnacho strike

Manchester United supporters have been sent wild by the link-up play between Alejandro Garnacho and his idol Cristiano Ronaldo following the former's first goal for the club against Real Sociedad. Garnacho opened the scoring at the Anoeta Stadium with a wonder strike on Thursday night.

Bursting through with electrifying pace, the Argentina starlet left several opponents on the floor as he finished with aplomb to put United ahead in their Europa League group stage clash. United needed to win by two clear goals in San Sebastian to ensure they progressed as Group E winners.

And they were given a perfect start when Ronaldo and Garnacho combined. Ronaldo picked up the ball in a central area before producing a killer pass.

He knew exactly where Garnacho would be and the Madrid-born teenager made no mistake. It was his first senior strike for United and that historic moment was made all the more special by Ronaldo - the five-time Ballon d'Or winner who he no doubt hopes to emulate - setting him on his way. It was an opener to savour for match-goers and those watching on their TV screens.

United need to defeat Sociedad by two goals at the Anoeta Stadium to top Group E and, ultimately, progress to the last 16 without needing to play a play-off tie. Sociedad were 1-0 winners at Old Trafford in September and they take a perfect record into this group stage finale.

Ten Hag and his players earned two wins against both FC Sheriff and Omonia Nicosia. Here are comments as taken from popular social media platform Twitter about Garnacho and Ronaldo.
