Historic Liverpool neighbourhood set for new homes in £1.4m plan

A property developer has revealed plans to build new homes in one of the most historic areas in Liverpool city centre.

The Georgian Quarter is dripping with historic splendour, with some of the most eye-catching architecture in the region.

However, Hampton Street, a portion of which has been earmarked for the £1.4m housing scheme by contracting firm Frank Rogers, is in need of an uplift.

The small stretch is tucked away off Upper Parliament Street and just a couple of minutes' walk from the Anglican Cathedral, but is peppered with lots of unused land and graffitied walls.

Known as Hampton Place, the new development will comprise four high-specification four-bedroom homes. The semi-detached properties are expected to be designed and built over an 18-month period and will all include a driveway with parking for two vehicles.

It is hoped the scheme could create an "urban oasis" featuring independent shops, bars and restaurants.

Dean Rogers, managing director of Frank Rogers, said: "The city is currently being transformed through a number of major development projects, such as the likes of Liverpool Waters , and with a rapidly increasing population and the highest rental yields in the UK in recent years, Liverpool is an extremely appealing choice for private investors.

"This development has come at a time where we can see a £14bn regeneration across the city into homes and infrastructure, which is having a big impact on the local area."

Frank Rogers is also behind Rialto House at the junction of Parliament Street and Princes Road. The ten-month project, which cost £1.5m, transformed an office block into nine apartments.
