Historic former school has potential to become luxury mansion

A former girls school has gone on the market with the potential to be transformed into a luxury mansion with a pool.

Known as Millbrook Manor, the striking building on Knowsley Lane, in the heart of Knowsley Village, is a local landmark set within a conservation area.

Built in 1845, the historic building which overlooks the village green and war memorial, has an eye watering price tag of £2m and is on the market with Entwistle Green.

The property comprises two parts, the main building and a recently added annexe that comes with a ten-year guarantee. Overall, the property boasts nine bedrooms and seven bathrooms, as well as room for a swimming pool complex with a fitness suite.

Heading inside, work has already started on the transformation of the premises into a stunning mansion.

Guests are welcomed into the original building via a grand entrance hall featuring an oak and glass staircase.

Original features such as exposed beams remain in many rooms, with luxury touches including a glossy kitchen, bi-fold doors and a steel standalone bath bringing the space into the 21st century.

The huge open plan kitchen/diner has marble tiled floors, floor to ceiling cabinets and a huge central island. Elsewhere there is brand new parquet flooring, skylights to enhance the natural light of the building and huge double aspect ceilings.

Entwistle Green said Millbrook Manor could become the "ultimate family home" or even a unique boutique hotel.

They said: "This building has endless opportunities and the developer is open to opinions if a sale is to be agreed. There is a huge space for a swimming pool, should there be a preference for one, and there is also approved planning permission for a private swimming pool complex, with its own gym and sauna/steam-room."

Properties on Knowsley Lane had an overall average price of £625,000 over the last year, 60% higher than the previous 12 months and 44% up on the 2017 peak of £435,000.
