A historic former cinema and bingo hall in Edinburgh has been put up for sale.
Royal George Bingo Club, located in the seaside district of Portobello on Bath Street, was first opened to the public in the 1930s and has recently been listed on the market.
The former entertainment venue and Category C listed building is seconds away from the beach promenade with the potential of returning the bingo hall back to its former glory.

The building, which was designed by the well-known architect, T. Bowhill Gibson, originally opened in 1939 as the County Cinema and had a grand opening to the public with a viewing of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. In later years, it was renamed the George Cinema and was loved by generations of locals.
The art deco landmark has seen several modifications since opening, and has been closed to the public since 2018 .
Inside the former bingo hall, the property is in need of serious work if it is to be restored.
Recently there has been growing concerns by the residents in Portobello that the building is beginning to rot and turn into disrepair.
However, Over many years there has been countless attempts by developers to redevelop the building for another purpose. Those proposals by designers have been unsuccessful due to local residents of the area appealing.

In 2021, the Scottish Government stepped into to stop the demolition of the former bingo hall with plans to create 20 privately owned flats.
