An American tourist has left a scathing review of a historic Edinburgh city centre pub, branding it "old and dirty."
Hitting out at Deacon Brodie's Pub Tavern, on the Royal Mile, the tourist said that although the location of the pub is ideal, the interior "needs work" and the staff were "rude."
Although they didn't leave the lowest of the low one-star review, the customer certainly seemed upset over their experience at the historic boozer and made it clear that they would not be returning any time soon. In response, the manager of the pub simply apologised for the "horrible" experience and even thanked them for leaving a review.

It started with: "The location is great and it looks nice from the outside, but the restaurant upstairs needs work. The carpets and everything seemed old and dirty and the service was the worst we’ve experienced. The woman who seated us was rude.
"Then we sat at our table for an eternity without anyone even coming over to ask us if we wanted a drink. We watched many tables of other people who were seated long after us get served before us. We felt as though they had forgotten about us in the corner. We had to try to get attention. Then we were all quite disappointed by the underwhelming food.
"Very disappointing meal experience. I do not recommend eating here. There are far too many amazing restaurants in Edinburgh to waste your time or money at Deacon Brodie’s Tavern."
The pub replied to the review and took a much calmer approach than many would, saying: "We are incredibly sorry to read of your poor experience when you dined with us, please accept our apologies. We appreciate your honest feedback, as we are always looking for ways to improve. To that end we will address the issues that you have raised urgently. Thank you again for taking the time to leave us the review."
Serving Edinburgh locals since the early 1800s, the pub, named after William Brodie, is one of the oldest in the capital.
