Firefighters in Edinburgh have raced to an ongoing blaze at a historic Old Town pub.
The fire broke out shortly after lunchtime at the Royal Mile Tavern on February 9 and the Scottish Fire Service arrived at the scene at 12.48pm
Images show fire engines with several huge hoses outside the boozer. There are currently seven appliances with up to 35 firefighters at the scene and it is unclear if anyone has been injured. Smoke was seen billowing from the building as passersby watched on.
One eye witness said: “It’s coming from the tavern, I think it started in the kitchen somewhere and there’s still loads of smoke coming out.
"There’s firefighters in there at the moment and at first they thought it could be gas. It’s devastating seeing another fire shortly after the one at Jenners.”
Another passerby Stanley Rillie, 80, told Edinburgh Live how he passed at 11am and saw three ambulances close by. He added: "The smoke was pouring out of the building around 1pm. It’s devastating - I'd just been to see the tributes at Jenners earlier in the day."
A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and RescueService said: "We received reports of an ongoing incident on the Royal Mile at 12.48 on February 9. There are currently seven appliances at the scene."
