Historic Blackbrook Hall converted into new office space

An historic West Midlands hall has been transformed into new flexible workspace.

Blackbrook Hall, which was once home to architect James Wyatt, has been converted into 12 office suites and communal breakout space after undergoing a refurbishment programme.

The project was carried out by Birmingham businessmen Kevin Sharkey, who runs property developer and investor Key Land Capital, and Peter James, a director of power installer Connect PDI, who acquired the property in Weeford near Sutton Coldfield in January.

The grade II-listed building will now also be the new headquarters of both companies.

Mr James said: "When Kevin and I decided to invest in Blackbrook House, we were attracted by the opportunity to create something quite special and unique for the benefit of small businesses in the region.

"What we now have is a business centre that bridges the gap between a traditional office and working from home. We're in the heart of the countryside, while still being very easy to access from places such as Sutton Coldfield, Lichfield and Tamworth."

Mr Sharkey added: "It has been a joy to breathe new life into such an historic building which was in a sorry state and had been vacant for a couple of years. We have undertaken a thorough programme of refurbishment and created superb office suites which will suit a range of small businesses."

The three-storey former farmhouse was built in the 18th century and architect James Wyatt was born there in 1746.

He became renowned for designing neoclassical and neo-Gothic buildings including The Pantheon in London, Packington Hall in Staffordshire and Christ Church college at University of Oxford alongside alteration work at the famous Soho House in Birmingham.
