Historic 2024 Democratic National Convention In Chicago

President Joe Biden embraces Democratic presidential nominee Vice President Kamala Harris as first lady Jill Biden hugs second gentleman Doug Emhoff during the first day of Democratic National Convent

During the 2024 Democratic National Convention in Chicago, Vice President Kamala Harris was officially nominated as the Democratic Party's candidate, marking a historic moment as the first Black woman and nominee of South Asian descent to lead the party's ticket. The convention saw thousands of Democratic delegates coming together to reaffirm their support for Harris in a celebratory roll call of states.

Prior to the convention, there were significant developments within the party, including President Joe Biden ending his campaign and endorsing Harris. This decision led to a whirlwind tour of battleground states with Harris and her new running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz. Harris, accompanied by Walz, made an appearance at the convention's opening night, delivering brief remarks before watching speeches from the arena's box seats. She later returned to the stage to embrace Biden after his speech, symbolizing a transition of leadership within the party.
