"Hispanics are Republicans, they just don't know it," says Miami congresswoman in Trump rally

A lot happened during Trump's campaign rally in Florida on Tuesday, as the former president not only teased about the possibility that Marco Rubio will be his running mate, but also rode the wave of infighting within the Democratic party as some members urge President Biden to reconsider his reelection bid.

Between all the hoopla, Trump also received a boost from Republican Congresswoman María Elvira Salazar, who emphasized the growing influence of Latinos in the United States, called for their support in the "crucial" November election and even cited former Republican President Ronald Reagan:

"Hispanics are Republicans, they just don't know it. And this is the time for us to know it and to do something about it."

Salazar, a daughter of Cuban exiles, highlighted the significance of the Latino community, stating, "We are the largest minority in the country, representing 20% of the population. This is the moment to raise our voices and present a united front."

Salazar's message seemed to resonate with the crowd in Doral, which included people from various parts of Florida, many of them hailing from Cuba, Venezuela, Colombia, and other Latin American countries. She appeared to ride the high of the attendees by highlighting the dangers of socialism, as many of them left their countries due to political and economic reasons, and said that America itself is getting close to becoming a socialist country:

In another passage of her speech, Salazar assured that Hispanics are welcome in the Republican Party and declared unequivocally: "For that reason, there is only one candidate for the White House: Donald Trump."

A strong majority of Latino voters have historically voted for the Democratic nominee, and Joe Biden handily beat Trump with the demographic in 2020. But this year polls have suggested that Trump might perform better than any other Republican candidate in history.

Back in February, Salazar publicly endorsed Trump as a candidate with an Instagram post on her official account that showed the two sharing an embrace:
