His wife died alongside Kobe Bryant. Two years on, he shares grief over the seven deaths that were overlooked

Matt Mauser was asleep when his wife Christina spoke to him for the last time. She was up early to go to a girls’ basketball tournament, where she was coaching with their friend, NBA legend Kobe Bryant. Mr Mauser, the frontman for a California rock band, had been up late the night before, and Christina didn’t want to wake him. So she just told him she loved him and left.

“She kissed me on the cheek and I didn’t wake up,” Mr Mauser told The Independent.
