When catastrophic deluge waters swept through the valleys of central and eastern Nepal, Kopila Tamang was residing in the capital city of Kathmandu, unaware that her family's mountain home was being swallowed by raging mudslides and surging torrents. Just ten years prior, her relatives barely survived the devastating 2015 earthquake that demolished their ancestral residence, requiring years of arduous work to rebuild. Recently, sudden severe floodwaters wiped away their newly constructed home, claiming 17 members of Tamang's family in a single afternoon.
