SHIMLA: Amid the entry of AAP in electoral politics of Himachal Pradesh, AICC secretary and former minister Sudhir Sharma has started the drive to mobilize public support in favour of Congress party.
Making a beginning from his Dharamshala assembly constituency, Sudhir Sharma on Tuesday organized youth convention at Zorawar Stadium Dharamshala. Kangra district plays key role in the politics of state as of the total 68 assembly seats, it alone has 15 assembly seats and a party that wins maximum seats from district forms government in the state.
While attacking the chief minister Jai Ram Thakur-led BJP government for failing to ensure the development of areas merged from Punjab, Sudhir Sharma said that Congress will create history by winning maximum seats from Kangra to form the government in the state.
He said that whether Kangra has got airport, second capital status or central University, it is all a contribution of Congress during the tenure of former chief minister late Virbhadra Singh. He said that from the Kangra district having 15 assembly seats, Congress party has always got the support of people. He said that in the coming assembly election also Congress candidates will get the support of people to form the Congress government.
Brushing aside the speculations of AAP trying to persuade him to join the party, Sudhir Sharma said that he is a loyal worker of Congress party and will remain in the Congress party and will not go anywhere. He said that the contest in the assembly elections would be between the Congress and the BJP and AAP would be nowhere in the scene.
He said that there is no factionalism in the Congress party and everyone is with the party. While referring to the youth convention, he said that youth were repeatedly talking about organizing this convention but to Covid pandemic it could be organized in last 2 years. He said that youth should participate enthusiastically in sports, for which many types of sports events would be organized in the coming time, in which participation of youth would be ensured.
Sudhir Sharma said that weather of Dharamsala is very suitable for sports. He said that there is no proper arrangement for sports in the state due to which the youth are not able to show their talent at the international level or at the national level. He said that along with education, it is necessary to give opportunity to the youth in sports to bring forward their talent.
