Hillsborough County, which encompasses Tampa, has announced the closure of its offices and facilities on Friday to allow county employees to focus on responding to Hurricane Helene.

Fire Chief Jason Dougherty revealed that three fire stations have been evacuated, and a Hillsborough County Fire Rescue fire boat has been temporarily taken out of service. Despite these challenges, Dougherty emphasized that the fire department's response times will not be affected.

Chief Dougherty also issued a reminder to residents in evacuation zones, urging them to heed evacuation orders for their safety.

Sheriff Chronister emphasized the importance of residents making responsible decisions to avoid putting first responders at risk. He stressed that no situation would prevent rescue crews from reaching those in need.

As Hurricane Helene approaches, Hillsborough County is taking proactive measures to ensure the safety and well-being of its residents. The coordinated efforts of the fire department and sheriff's department reflect a commitment to serving the community during challenging times.
