Hilary Duff's living space was designed to reflect her love for 'warm minimalism' – and the exact soft furnishings are on sale for Black Friday

American actress and singer Hilary Duff's inviting and calm Hollywood home has become the talk of the design world for one significant reason; it champions 'warm minimalism' – the latest interior design trend taking over our Instagram feeds.

But what is it about this luxurious look that has captivated designers and homeowners alike? Warm minimalism, much like the quiet luxury trend, is having its moment in the spotlight. Unlike its cooler yet more clinical sister, a warm minimalist interior promises to exude more character and comfort into a clean and functional space.

Designed by Jenni Kayne, Hilary Duff's home is the perfect embodiment of this popular, welcoming aesthetic. The simplest way to achieve this look, as Jenni Kayne has done, is to mimic the warmest colors from nature. Inspired by colors and materials from the natural world, warm minimalism adds a gentle and soothing touch to interiors that can be layered with textures and tones to ebb and flow with the seasons.

'There’s a definite move towards warm minimalist interior design,' says Becca Galbraith, designer and founder of Becca Interiors. 'The deeper hues and rich, neutral tones resonate with our desire to be more at one with nature. As a result, we are starting to see more and more people decorating with gold, beige, taupe and ochre tones to create spaces that are elegant, simple and serene. It’s about building a sense of cohesion, so no piece of furniture or color is over-dominating the space.'

To recreate the calm aesthetic in Hilary's home, the key is to keep this look as simple as possible. Source one or two statement pieces of furniture or furnishings as the backbone of your room, and pull out colors, materials and shapes for the rest of your decorating ideas

If in any doubt, start with the flooring. In this Jenni Kayne-designed space, the Lodge Handwoven Rug acts as a precursor to the colors and tones used elsewhere. Decorating with beige, gray and taupe helps to ground the room, evoking a sense of calm and tranquility – a wonderful choice for the entrance to a home.

'Using a natural palette is all about adding depth and contrast in different layers and textures,' says Jane Landino, creative head of the studio at Taylor Howes. 'To make a warm minimalist color palette feel designed and considered it’s important to incorporate plenty of texture to stop the space feeling lifeless or dull.'

Here, Jenni Kayne layered her Alpaca Basketweave Pillows and Alpaca Basketweave Lumbar Pillow to add depth, warmth, and a hint of subtle color to Hilary Duff's living room seating.
