Hilary Duff says posing for a photograph for a high-gloss magazine alongside contemporaries including Lindsay Lohan and Mandy Moore was one of the most nerve wracking moments of her life.
The 34-year-old singer and actress has enjoyed a long and glittering career over the decades, graduating from a child star in Lizzie McGuire at the turn of the century to being the lead star in current comedy smash How I Met Your Father.
She rose to prominence alongside the likes of 35-year-old Lindsay who went from being a child star to a wild child during the naughties – while Mandy Moore, 37, has also straddled a career including music and acting like Hilary.
The star was confronted by Vanity Fair by an old cover where the ladies posed alongside Amanda Bynes, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, Alexid Bledel, Evan Rachel Wood and Raven Symone.
But asked by Vanity Fair if she considered the iconic cover shoot – titled It’s Totally Raining Teens! and captured by iconic fashion photographer Mark Seliger – was a career high, the mum-of-three didn’t sound sure.
She told the publication: “Explain career high?
“Like personal high or just like a big achievement?
“I remember being like, ‘This is cool I was included in this,’ but no, this was a very high stress, anxiety-inducing day.”
While it is also noted that Hilary and Lindsay had a feud around the time of the original Vanity Fair cover shoot as they fell out due to their dating histories effectively overlapping – with reported arguments erupting between 2001 until they made up in 2007.
As US reports: "[Hilary] was also fresh off her breakup with Aaron Carter and in the midst of a public feud with Lohan. The pressure was on for everything to go well at the photo shoot."
Meanwhile, Hilary has also opened up about motherhood in a chat with Entertainment Tonight.
The star has a nine-year-old son named Luca from her past marriage to Mike Comrie, and shares a three-year-old daughter named Banks and an 11-month-old daughter named Mae with husband Matthew Koma, 34.
Hilary said: “[Banks is] listening to my music, which means that I have to listen to a lot of my own music.
“The song right now is 'Wake up' and she's really into 'Wake up.' I'm like, 'That's fine we can listen to it at like top, top volume. It's all good.' I don't love having to listen to my own music daily."
She also opened up about her shock at how fast her children are growing up.
She said: "I can't believe I'm at this age and I've been a mom, like, [Luca’s] turning 10 this month so I've been a mom for 10 years.
"Today, I was sitting there thinking about what I'm going to write in his birthday card 'cause I don't know what I would have been doing these 10 years. It's been such an adventure, and he gave me this confidence and these memories."
