Actor Eddie Marsan was left blushing after he received the perfect Welsh welcome on the red carpet at BAFTA Cymru 2022 on Sunday, October 9. The Ray Donovan star, who was nominated for Best Actor for his role in BBC ’s The Pact, was chatting to artist and presenter Nathan Wyburn when suddenly, the interview was interrupted by an enthusiastic fan.
“I love you and I love your son!” shouted the woman, who was walking past with a friend. Humble Eddie replied mid interview: “Oh, thank you,” as camera crews and crowds gathered around the red carpet looked on. Eddie's sons, Blu and Bodhi, appeared with their father in ITV's Isolation Stories in 2020.
The woman continued: “I love you. My son’s an actor. Jack Baggs and he was in Pride.” She then asked an astonished Eddie how the ‘canoe’ is - referring to ITV drama, The Thief, His Wife and The Canoe in which he played the real life role of John Darwin.

In a surprising revelation, the woman then asked the 54-year-old actor what his name was. Upon telling her that his name was Eddie, the woman immediately responded: “Eddie, what? He told her and she once again screamed: “I love you!”
Determined not to cause any more disruption, the woman walked away and Eddie laughed, confused as to what had just happened. Unfortunately for the actor, the fan’s love was not enough to bag him the Best Actor award and that instead, went to Owen Teale for Dream Horse.
Addressing the moment, Eddie wrote on Twitter: "I do love coming to Wales. There's so much love." It's safe to say that despite losing out on the award, Eddie will not forget BAFTA Cymru 2022 in a hurry. Read the full list of winners from BAFTA Cymru here.
