A young Irish footballer has gone viral for his unusual throw-in routine.
The young man sent the internet into meltdown after taking a throw-in for Clare against limerick in the Kennedy Cup Shield final. The full-back tried to do an elaborate flip routine prior to taking the throw, in an effort to get an extra bit of distance.
To be honest, the description doesn't do it justice, so just watch instead:
In fairness to the player, there has been rumours that he has been successful with this throw-in style before. Unfortunately, this hasn't been caught on camera.
Some quick-witted Twitter users spotted some similarities between this attempt and one seen on the biggest stage in the world: The Fifa World Cup.
Plenty of people took to Twitter to try and describe what they had just seen. And in a welcome surprise, most commenters tended to applaud the young lad for his effort.
"Fair play to him for giving it a lash," said one user.
"Didn’t come into play so didn’t lose the throw. More look to him for trying it," wrote another.
A third user simply commented "outrageous."
The Shield final ended in a 2-1 victory for the Clare team. So for the young chap, his throw-in attempt may have been an epic fail, but at least he got the last laugh.
