A HIKER has been rescued after falling over 65ft towards a river in Glen Nevis.
The unidentified person sustained several injuries and is reportedly in “considerable pain”.
Lochaber Mountain Rescue stretchered the injured person to a nearby carpark where they were then taken to hospital by the Scottish Ambulance Service.
Lochaber MRT said on Facebook: “Tonight’s callout saw the team heading to Steall Gorge in Glen Nevis to assist a walker who had fallen from the path down towards the river.
“Having taken a tumbling fall of around 20 metres, the casualty was in considerable pain with a number of injuries. After an assessment by one of our team doctors the casualty was given some pain relief and packaged for a raise up to the path.
“After a steady stretcher carry back to the carpark the casualty was handed over to a waiting ambulance for onward transfer to hospital.
“We’d like to give thanks to passing walkers who provided initial care before the team arrived and wish the casualty a swift recovery.”

Last year saw 870 mountain rescue callouts, according to official figures.
