Highway Code rule explains the rules around parking on pavements

With society open and running again after Covid lockdown rules ease, many of us are starting to head back into the office, out on holiday, or just out for a day trip. As such, your car might be getting a bit more use than it has for the past two years.

With that in mind, what are the rules on parking on pavements? We all know it's not ideal, but can you do it if it's a narrow road, for example?

Well, rule 244 of the Highway Code states: "You MUST NOT park partially or wholly on the pavement in London, and should not do so elsewhere unless signs permit it. Parking on the pavement can obstruct and seriously inconvenience pedestrians, people in wheelchairs or with visual impairments and people with prams or pushchairs."
