It wasn’t a Game 6, but Klay Thompson brought his signature Game 6 Klay energy to close out the Dallas Mavericks in Game 5 of the Western Conference finals on Thursday night.
After missing two years due to a pair of serious injuries, Thompson capitalized on his long journey back to the court with a fiery performance in Game 5 to eliminate the Mavs and help the Warriors punch a ticket to the 2022 NBA Finals.
Thompson dropped a game-high 32 points on 12-of-25 shooting from the floor with three assists and two rebounds. The sharpshooter got especially hot from beyond the arc, drilling eight triples on 16 attempts from deep.
With his eight 3-pointers in Game 5, Thompson moved past Steph Curry, Damian Lillard and Ray Allen for the most playoff games with eight or more made triples. Thompson has now recorded five postseason contests with eight or more 3-pointers.
