A popular Scots animal park has just announced the sad loss of their visitor favourites.
The Highland Wildlife Park, near Kingussie, said seven-year-old male Arctic Fox, Bard, was put to sleep following "age-related health issues".
In a post on their social media, they said he will be "greatly missed" by everyone who worked with him.
They confirmed they had exhausted all alternatives and made the decision under veterinary advice.
Fans of the park flocked to offer their condolences.
One wrote: "He’s at peace now and would have had a wonderful caring time at WHP and well taken care off , thoughts are with you all it must be heartbreaking for all of you."
While another added: "Aww sorry to read this, he was a right wee character and a trip to the wildlife park won't be the same without seeing his cute little face with his magnificent tail."
Vickie Larkin, carnivore team leader at Highland Wildlife Park, said, “We are sad to announce the loss of our seven-year-old male Arctic fox, Bard, who was recently put to sleep under veterinary advice following age-related health issues.
“After exhausting all alternatives, our veterinary teams advised he should be put to sleep to prevent him suffering.
“He will be greatly missed by everyone who worked with him.”
