Highland restaurant set to feature in new documentary on NC500

A SCOTTISH restaurant is set to feature in a brand-new Channel 4 documentary set against the backdrop of the NC500.

The new series will air from 8pm on Saturday August 3 with each of the four 60-minute episodes charting the trials and tribulations of those who live, work and drive along the length of the route.

The Dipping Lugger in Ullapool is set to feature in the documentary alongside a number of business owners including artisan craftspeople, restaurateurs and food producers, situated in the towns and villages along the route.

Co-owner of The Dipping Lugger Robert Hicks said: “We were happy to feature in the programme, it gives an insight into what makes this part of the world tick.

“It explains the pressures that come with tourism but also the advantages and opportunities that tourism can bring to the region in terms of job creation and business opportunities, whilst at the same time showcasing this beautiful part of the world which we are all lucky to call home.”

From its starting point in Inverness, the NC500 takes in some of Scotland’s most dramatic scenery visiting Gairloch, Ullapool, Wick, Thurso and the Black Isle before returning to Inverness around 516 miles later.
