People were evacuated from a high rise building after a blaze broke out in a third floor flat.
Five fire engines and an aerial appliance were called to the scene on Leeds Street in Vauxhall this afternoon, December 22. Crews were called at 1.47pm and arrived on the scene shortly after.
On arrival, firefighters found a small fire had started in the kitchen of a third floor flat. Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service said blaze had been extinguished before the fire service arrived.

One person was being assessed at the scene by paramedics following the fire. The fire service said in a statement: "Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service is currently in attendance at a fire in a high rise block of flats on Leeds Street, Liverpool L3.
"Crews were called at 1.47pm and on scene shortly after. Five fire engines and an aerial appliance were sent to the scene. On arrival crews found a there had been a small fire in the kitchen of a flat on the third floor. The fire had been extinguished prior to fire service arrival.
"One person is being assessed at the scene by paramedics. No further fire service action is required and crews are expected to leave the scene shortly."
