Gaza hostage and ceasefire talks in Doha have officially commenced, according to a diplomat familiar with the matter. The top negotiators from the United States, Israel, and Qatar were scheduled to convene in Doha on Sunday to deliberate on efforts to reach a resolution. This marks the first round of high-level discussions in over two months, with US officials emphasizing the need for renewed momentum following the recent killing of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar by Israel.
Earlier on Sunday, Egypt publicly put forth a proposal for a two-day ceasefire agreement. The proposed deal involves the exchange of four Israeli hostages in Gaza for Palestinian prisoners currently held in Israel. Egypt has been actively involved in mediating these negotiations, alongside Qatar and the United States.
