Hideo Kojima says he was "blown away" by surprise horror hit Backrooms, which reminds him of "pseudo-3D games from the 2D era"

An image from the Backrooms trailer.

He may be a little late to the game this time, but the king of Twitter movie reviews has spoken once again, and it sounds like Hideo Kojima is a fan of 2026 horror hit Backrooms.

"I'm blown away," said Kojima over on Twitter. "It reminds me of pseudo-3D games from the 2D era, back in the dawn of RPGs and the Family Computer (NES), before polygons and textures existed… That sense of confinement. That feeling of anxiety. Both are revived here in live action. The art direction is clever, incorporating elements of art, architecture, and psychology." Check out Kojima's full review below.
