Founded in 2012 as a subsidiary of Malaysia-based eVenture Ltd, Hide.me positions itself as a privacy-focused VPN that aims to combine robust security with extensive configuration options. Recent updates to the service’s feature set include the verification of no-logging claims via a Securitum audit (a leading European network penetration testing company), along with infrastructure upgrades across multiple locations.
Overall, our updated Hide.me testing reveals some improvements, along with a few challenges. While interface updates adding distance-based server sorting and Startpage integration show an improvement in usability, the Windows client remains notably complex compared to leading competitors. Connection speeds have slightly dropped – although it's by no means slow – and the service's total number of server locations has dropped from 88 to 80.
