There's nothing like a pleasant dog walk, but sometimes it can get a little boring taking your dog to the local park all the time.
That's why I'm always after new dog walking spots to not only keep my dog entertained, but myself too. I recently stumbled across a hidden nature reserve that I had no idea existed, and I couldn't believe how vast it was.
Described as an 'exciting but peaceful ancient woodland' by Woodland Trust, Dibbinsdale Nature Reserve is one of those places that you'll miss if you blink. The car park to the walking spot is hidden amongst an array of trees, and although it doesn't look like much from the car park, it's huge once you get walking - a bit like a Tardis.

Situated in a picturesque river valley, this 54 hectare walking spot offers plenty of character and a peaceful retreat. Its filled with wildflower meadows, reed swamp, lots of wildlife and a fish pond.
Located on historic parkland on the former grounds of Brotherton Park, the nature reserve offers much more than a bog standard dog walk. You can choose how fast or slow you want your walk to be, with a number of different routes available to take.
It's a perfect spot for dogs who like woodland walks and open spaces to run around in, but just be wary of the muddy water, particularly if you've got a white dog like mine! The one thing I love about this place is the fact that no matter how busy it is, it doesn't feel like its busy.
Everything is spaced out nicely and its a really pleasant walk rain or shine. My particular route of choice is round the pond, down to the bridge, under the tunnel, through some more woodland and back again - it usually takes just under an hour.
Perfect for families and couples, the nature reserve is a must do for nature lovers. Its received plenty of five star reviews on Trip Advisor and it's very easy to see why.
A walk around this hidden gem is bound to relax your mind, it's hard to believe this tranquil walk is just 20 minutes away from the hustle and bustle of the city centre. I'm so glad I stumbled across this very hidden gem and will continue to visit here on a regular basis for dog walks.
Be sure to take a trip here if you haven't already to immerse yourself in the pretty scenery, chirping birds and endless wildlife. You're bound to love it.
