Meghan Markle left viewers confused with the shoes she wore while paying her respects to the Queen. The Duchess of Sussex wore an all-black ensemble as she joined the rest of the royal family at the Palace of Westminster this week.
She completed her outfit with a pair of elegant heels, with eagle-eyed fans noticing an unusual symbol on the soles of her shoes as she performed a deep curtsey to the late Monarch's coffin. Many people were left curious if the overlapping three straight lines and one curved line were a personalised emblem, or possibly even a tribute to the Queen.
However, those in the fashion industry quickly identified the P and A markings as the logo of Paul Andrew. The high-end fashion designer, who is originally from Berkshire but is now based in New York, is well-known for his luxury footwear lines, the Mirror reports.
People believe she's wearing his Pump It Up Heels, which she previously wore for a royal engagement in Ireland before she and Harry quit their senior royals for a new life in the US. Meghan teamed the heels with a black dress, coat and hat.
In a moving tribute to the Queen, she also wear a pair of pearl and diamond earrings gifted to her by the Monarch ahead of their first joint engagement in 2018. They were very similar to the pair the Queen herself wore for the occasion.
The two royal women laughed and joke as they sat side-by-side at a number of engagements in Chester, travelling there overnight on the Royal Train. Meghan joined her husband Prince Harry and other members of the royal family as the Queen's coffin made its final journey from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Hall.
She travelled by car alongside the Countess of Wessex during the procession, while Kate, the new Princess of Wales sat with Queen Consort Camilla in a separate vehicle. Meghan and Harry were in Europe when news broke that the Queen was extremely unwell, with the Duke rushing to Balmoral to be with his family.
They have since carried out a number of engagements, their first since they quit the UK in 2020. All eyes were on the couple as they joined Kate and William for a walkabout in Windsor, during which they seemingly put months of tensions and fallout aside to unite in grieve.
William reportedly offered his younger brother to join him for the pre-arranged outing, which took place just a few minutes away from Frogmore Cottage, where the Sussexes are staying for the mourning period. Charles used his first speech as King to "send love" to his younger son and daughter-in-law and referenced their new life in the US.
The couple now live in Montecito, California, with their children Archie, two and Lilibet, one. They've used the months since quitting The Firm to build an impressive new life, including multi-million deals with Netflix and Spotify.
