Hibs vs Hearts rescheduled as first Edinburgh derby of the season picked for live TV broadcast

The first Edinburgh derby of the 2022/23 Premiership season has been rescheduled.

Hibs host Hearts in just the second week of the campaign as Robbie Neilson takes his team across the city. He'll face former Tynecastle teammate Lee Johnson at Easter Road.

Originally scheduled for Saturday, August 6, the capital clash has now been pushed to Sunday, August 7. The game will be broadcast live on Sky Sports and will kick-off at 12 noon.

The Jambos went undefeated against their city rivals last season, drawing 0-0 in Gorgie and Leith before a 3-1 win at home in March secured third position in the league and European football. In contrast, it condemned the Hibees to the bottom six.

A week later, the sides met again at Hampden and again the men in maroon came out on top. A 2-1 win saw them into the Scottish Cup final and meant Neilson's side are guaranteed group stage football in Europe until at least November.

Hibs begin their season away to St Johnstone on Saturday, 30 July. Hearts welcome Ross County before the neighbours meet eight days later.

The switch means yet another Sunday fixture for Hearts. From mid-August, Neilson's side will face a Thursday-Sunday schedule most weeks, either in the Europa League or the Europa Conference League.
