Hibs transfer confirmed as Lee Johnson signs 'dominant' Manchester United starlet in late dash

Hibs have confirmed the loan signing of Manchester United youngster Will Fish as they beat the deadline day buzzer to secure another signing.

It's been a busy summer at Easter Road but new manager Lee Johnson has worked all the way up to and past the transfer deadline to make his Hibs squad the best it can be. His latest recruit is Fish, a 19-year-old centre-back who will join the Red Devils for the remainder 2022/23 campaign.

The highly rated Premier League youngster spent the start of the campaign training alongside Erik ten Hag’s first team squad and was part of Manchester United’s pre-season trip to Australia. He made his professional debut for the club in May 2021 coming on as a substitute in a 2-1 win over Wolves. His further experience in senior football has come at Stockport County in the National League – the fifth-tier of the English pyramid.

Johnson said: “Will comes to us with an excellent pedigree captaining Manchester United’s Under-23s and playing for England.

“He’s a dominant centre-back who is comfortable with the ball at his feet and adds extra depth to our defence.

“We welcome him to the Club with open arms and look forward to working with him.”
