HIBERNIAN have taken their women's team under the umbrella of the main club.
The women's academy will continue to be run by the Hibernian Community Foundation.
Hibs chief executive Ben Kensell said: “Embedding the women's team within the club has always been a key ambition of ours, so we're delighted we've been able to reach that goal ahead of the 2022-23 season. I believe this shows real intent to put women's football at the very heart of the club.”
Hibs have been the second most successful Scottish women's side this century, winning three league titles, eight Scottish Cups and seven League Cups – but have fallen off the pace since Glasgow City, Celtic and Rangers went fully professional.
Kendall also said the side will playing be at a new ground when they host Hamilton Accies in their first home SWPL 1 game on August 14. Hibs were based at Spartans for several years before moving to the Tony Macaroni Arena in Livingston last season.
It is understood a partnership with another club is in the process of being finalised and an announcement will be made at the start of next week.
