Hibs land glamour Borussia Dortmund UEFA Youth League tie after stunning Nantes win

Hibs will come up against German giants Borussia Dortmund in the UEFA Youth League after a stunning win over Nantes.

The wee Hibees will face the best talents at the Bundesliga side at Easter Road next year in a one-legged play-off round tie to be played on February 7 or 8. Should the youngsters progress past this stage they would find themselves in the last 16 - where they would face one of the group winners from the Champions League path.

Speaking after the 2-1 win in France last week that secured a 3-1 aggregate success and a spot in this stage of the prestigious tournament, Academy Director Steve Kean said: "I don’t know if there are enough words to describe that and how we felt in the dressing room after the game.

"The spirit that we have within this young team is brilliant, for us to stay in the game and come here and win against an older, more physical team is an outstanding achievement.

“We probably had 11 contenders for man of the match, to win at a place like this everyone needs to be at least an 8 out of 10 and I think each and everyone was that tonight.

“I am thrilled for the lads to get another opportunity to play against a big club in the next round and to try and get through again."
