Hibs discover UEFA Youth League opponents as Nordic adventure awaits Easter Road youngsters

Hibs have been drawn against Norwegian club Molde in Round One of the UEFA Youth League.

Easter Road academy chief Steve Kean was out at European football's hierarchy headquarters in Nyon this afternoon as his club discovered who their maiden opponents would be. It's the first time in Hibs history that they have entered this competition after the U18s won their league last year. 64 competing teams have been split into the Champions League path and the domestic champions path, both of which begin in September.

Their path is the latter, taking the format of a straight knockout qualifying route that involves two rounds before a play-off with one of the UEFA Champions League group runners-up's. They enter at Round One and fixtures will be played on September 14th and October 5th to see if they can progress. Trips close to home in Ireland were on offer as well as Dutch heavyweights AZ Alkmaar.
