Hibs deliver Christmas win as they sweep aside Livingston - three things we learned

Hibs got just what they wanted for Christmas as they claimed their first win in four matches by beating Livingston.

The Hibees bounced back from last week's dramatic loss to Rangers at Ibrox as they took on David Martindale's side at Easter Road. Kevin Nisbet got his first run out in Leith since returning from injury and the Scotland star made an instant impact. The goal-machine was involved as Livingston were reduced to ten men, when Jason Holt lunged in with a dangerous challenge and was red carded. Nisbet then got himself on the score sheet, before Hibs turned on the style with a stunning finish from Chris Cadden and a a cool header from Kyle Magennis. Magennis was at it again just after the second half with an almost identical finish.

The result will provide a huge boost to Lee Johnson who was desperate to see his side claim three points. The performance and positive attacking display will have impressed the Easter Road faithful as they get set to welcome Celtic next.

Here are three things we learned as Christmas cheer hits Easter Road.

A Christmas gift

If there's one thing Hibs needed before Christmas it was a win.

But the manner of the dominant home victory over Livingston is surely what will please Lee Johnson the most.

They took full advantage of Livingston going down to ten men and their positive display saw the goals flood in.

The Easter Road side still sit in the bottom half of the table, but more performances like this could see that all change.

Magic Magennis

The attacking midfielder got forward at every opportunity as he burst into the box.

Those dangerous runs paid dividends as he got onto the end of two perfect crosses from Ellie Youlan, also a constant threat, got Magennis two well deserved goals.

Lee Johnson will hope their is more to come after this display.

Goal machine Nisbet

If there is one thing Hibs have lacked this season its a goal threat.

Despite bringing in summer recruits of Mykola Kukharevych and Harry McKirdy to bring in attacking reinforcements goals have been hard to come by.

One man who has certainly been missed in is Kevin Nisbet. The Scotland striker brings an entirely different dimension to the Hibs attack and is the goal machine they have been missing.

It's only been two games since his return and he's already netted at Ibrox and go Hibs on their way today. If Lee Johnson can keep the talisman fit he'll be vital in climbing up the table.
