Hibs have submitted an appeal against the red card shown to Jimmy Jeggo.
The midfielder was ordered off in the second half of the 1-1 draw against St Johnstone for a tackle on Connor McLennan.
Referee Craig Napier was quick to produce a red card for the tackle despite Jeggo appearing to win the ball first.
VAR official Chris Graham backed the call - to the disbelief of Hibs boss Lee Johnson - with Napier not told to watch the incident a second time on the pitch side monitor.
Now, the club have confirmed they will appeal the red card - and subsequent two-match suspension - following an "extensive review of footage from different angles".
Hibs also cited "the competitive nature of the game" and Jeggo having "won the ball first" in their reasoning for the appeal call.
A club statement read: "We can confirm that we have appealed Jimmy Jeggo’s red card in our draw with St Johnstone in the cinch Premiership.
"Jeggo was sent off at the start of the second half for a low challenge on Connor McLennan.
"Following an extensive review of the footage from different angles, the competitive nature of the game, and knowing Jeggo won the ball first, the Club has submitted an appeal to the SFA.
"We will provide a further update when we have been notified of the outcome of the appeal.
"If the red card is upheld, it means that Jeggo will serve a two-match suspension."
Furious Hibs boss Johnson said of the decision: “The system is absolutely broken, and it needs to be fixed.
“How do you stop a follow-through? It’s not a straight follow-through, he’s trying to half-tackle and half-pass but he doesn’t know if there’s someone there or not.
“He wins the ball cleanly, their player comes flying in 0.5 seconds after, and somehow Jeggo gets sent off. And did you see how quickly the referee whipped out the red card?
"And then to not go to the screen…honestly, it’s broken if that’s a sending-off."
