Hibernian are interested in signing Corrie Ndaba from Ipswich Town.
The defender, 24, spent last season on loan at Kilmarnock.
The Irishman played a pivotal role in Derek McInnes' side finishing fourth in the Scottish Premiership. He made 37 appearances, scoring once, as well as notching one assist.
Mainly deployed at left-wing back, or left-back, the centre-half by trade showed his versatility for Killie during a successful campaign in Ayrshire, with Killie widely revered for their defensive solidity.
Ndaba has since returned to his parent club in Suffolk following his loan spell at Rugby Park. He has a year left on his contract at Ipswich.
It's understood that Killie agreed a deal with the newly promoted English Premier League side at the beginning of the summer to take Ndaba back on a permanent basis.
However, it's believed the player does have options on the table with 12 months left on his deal.
Hibs have joined the race to sign Ndaba by making their interest known this week.

David Gray is looking to bolster his squad following his permanent appointment as head coach.
It's been a big summer of change so far, not least in the dugout and upstairs with Malky Mackay's arrival, but on the field as well with Paul Hanlon, Lewis Stevenson, Adam Le Fondre, Dylan Tait and Jacob Blaney all departing. David Marshall retired before being offered an off-the-pitch role at the club.
Young players Murray Johnson, Kyle McClelland and Murray Aitken have all moved out on loan too.
Gray will of course reap the benefits of Hibs' increased transfer budget for the upcoming season following American businessman Bill Foley's £6m investment into the club earlier this year.
The AFC Bournemouth majority shareholder has a minority stake in the Easter Road outfit.
So far this summer Hibs have added Marvin Ekpiteta, Warren O'Hora and Josef Bursik to their first-team ranks.
