The federal government has awarded $247.9 million in new grants to expand opioid addiction treatment, train people to reverse overdoses, and strengthen mental health services for children, college students, and communities. The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced the awards on September 25 through the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), according to an HHS press release.

"HHS is investing nearly $250 million to put lifesaving treatment and recovery services directly into communities across America," said HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
