RECORDING WEEK 2024: Founded in 1968, HH was one of the founding innovators of amplifier and loudspeaker technology for modern professional audio. Today, HH's range of live sound and audio installation products is highly respected and sold globally, with sales in over 60 countries.
Now, all of this skill and experience has been brought to bear on their latest line of professional mixing consoles as their new Q Series brings decades of British design and engineering to your audio productions.
The series consists of four analogue mixing consoles which cover an array of live sound applications being available in 6, 8, 12 or 16 channel formats each with 2-In/2-Out US functionality.
The Q Series’ comprehensive channel strip allows you to take complete control over the tonal shape, dynamics, and depth of your mixes with low-noise mic-preamps, three-band EQ, single knob compression, and high-quality DSP effects on board.
Kicking off with the Q6FX…
The most compact mixer in the series is the Q6FX, featuring six channels (two mono input channels and 2 stereo line inputs), four banks of three-band EQ, and 16 high-quality DSP effects.
The functionality of the Q6FX is expanded even further with the addition of its 2-In/2-Out USB interface, making it a fantastic tool for music production in a home studio as well as giving you the ability to easily record live performances or podcasts.
Further features include comprehensive monitoring, an auxiliary send with a stereo return, RCA in, global phantom power, a pan control on each channel, and a four-point LED meter for your main mix, all housed in a robust metal chassis.
Next in the Q: The Q8FX…
The next step up in the Q series is the Q8FX. A similarly compact design to the Q6FX but with an expanded feature set. The Q8FX features eight channels comprising of four microphone inputs and three stereo line inputs, five banks of three-band EQ, high-quality DSP effects with parameter control, and that 2-In/2-Out USB functionality.
The first two channels on the Q8FX also include a mono insert option as well as an easy-to-use single-knob compressor. This gives you control of the dynamic range of your input sources and helps dynamically varying vocals and instruments sit right in your mix.
Additional features include a 75Hz 18dB/Oct low cut on channels 1-through-6 plus an analogue record-out option via RCA.
Meet the Q12FX…
Expanding further on the feature set of the Q8FX, the Q12FX offers more channels and more control making this a great choice for small ensembles.
The Q12FX features 12 channels (six mic inputs, four mono line inputs and four stereo line inputs), eight banks of three-band EQ, high-quality DSP effects with parameter control, and 2-In/2-Out USB functionality.
The Q12FX also includes a nine-band graphic EQ with feedback detection which allows you to eliminate troublesome frequencies and finely tune your overall mix.
Aux and FX sends are spread between two individual controls on the Q12FX, offering pre and post- fade routing options. The Q12FX gives you the ability to route the audio from multiple channels to two sub-groups and these channels simultaneously via two 60mm faders.
And yet, a mixer of this capacity the Q12FX remains a very portable solution and features a carry handle recessed into the chassis.
Top of the tree: The Q16FX…
The largest mixer in the Q series is the Q16FX being an ideal mixer solution for medium-sized ensembles.
The Q16FX takes everything from the Q12FX, including the nine-band graphic EQ and subgroups, and adds an additional four channels.
The extra channels and input options give you much more freedom to experiment with microphone techniques on your sound sources or introduce extra instruments into the ensemble.
The 16-channel mixer includes 10 mic inputs, eight mono line inputs, four stereo line inputs, eight insert lines, and eight compressors. And just like the 12-channel version, the Q16FX is still a portable mixer solution with the same carry handle recessed into the chassis.
